You may have heard of "the male gaze" - especially if you're a film buff. If this term hasn't crossed your path of reference, it's basically a theoretical lens that stories are told through, stemming from the fact that most stories (especially the older ones) are told from a male perspective. That scantily clad damsel who graces the cover of pulp magazines? Yep, she is a textbook example of the male gaze.
This artwork is my own attempt at using the female gaze to re-imagine the cover art for space pulps from the 1940's. She's strong, playful, and has a gaze for more searing than the sun ☀️
